Schedule
Day 1
- Early start from Chandigarh
- Drive to the Pong Dam reservoir and Bird Sanctuary about 5 hrs away
- Have a hearty lunch and relax a bit
- Set out for a short Forest trail walk
- Get ready for some mud pot making and barbeque some local food
- Camp fire to enjoy the slight chill in air
Day 2
- Wake up to the tune of chirping birds and head out early for bird watching along the forest trails
- Back for breakfast
- Hop on to row-boats to reach an island on the Pong dam reservoir
- Try catching the local fresh water fishes
- Lunch
- Relax in afternoon
- Entertaining local performances in evening
- Dinner is Dham; the elaborate local spread is usually served on weddings and festivals. It’s bound to tingle your taste buds
- Count the stars and figure out the constellations on star gazing night
Day 3
- Drive to McLeodganj; the seat of Dalai Lama
- Go for a walk to nearby temple
- Visit the beautiful monastery in Dharamshala
- Visit the school of Butoh to catch a performance of the Japanese Dance of Darkness (we guarantee an eerie, yet fascinating experience)
- Evening free for shopping in the local markets
Day 4
- Start early with breakfast and head back to Chandigarh
